NAMI Western Carolina’s meetings are open to everyone, including families, friends, and all persons with a biological brain disorder/mental illness. Meetings are held at at our NAMI-WC office at 356 Biltmore Avenue, Suite 298, Asheville or across the hall in Suite 400. See listings below for specific groups and locations. GROUPS WILL NO LONGER BE HELD AT MOUNTAINHOUSE AS OF AUGUST, 2010. ALL GROUPS AND MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT 356 BILTMORE AVENUE, SUITE 298 OR SUITE 400.  SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS. 

 First Saturday Monthly- General Meeting – 10 am – 356 Biltmore Ave. Suite 400. Meetings are open to all.  The meeting includes a brief welcome to NAMI followed by the NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group for those with a diagnosis and a separate meeting for family members/caregivers of those with a mental illness.  All NAMI-WC support groups offer peer support; they are not led by mental health professionals. Meetings will be held September 4, October 2, November 6 and December 4, 2010.

First Saturday Monthly – NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group – 10 am – 356 Biltmore Ave. Suite 400 after brief general meeting. Support group by consumers, for consumers and about consumers meets the first Saturday of the month. Meetings will be held: September 4, October 2, November 6 and December 4, 2010.  

Third Tuesday Monthly – NAMI Western Carolina General Meeting:  7 – 8 pm. 356 Biltmore Ave. Ste. 400. Meetings are open to all and include support groups that begin at 8 pm. after the education program.  See the HOME page right side columns for information on the education programs. Third Tuesday Monthly – NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group – 8 – 930 pm. Group by consumers, for consumers, and about consumers meets 8 pm every third Tuesday after the general meeting. A support group for family members, friends and loved ones runs concurrently. Our next meetings will be held August 17, September 21, October 19, and November 16,2010.  December date to be announced.

Second and Fourth Mondays  – Connection Recovery Support Groups – 11 am to 12:30 pm – NAMI Office: 356 Biltmore Ave., Suite 298. Meetings will be held on Mondays:  August 9 & 23,  September 13 & 27,  October 11 & 25, 2010,  November 8 & 22,  December 13 & 27, 2010.

Veterans - The Connection Support Group exclusively for Veterans has been discontinued temporarily. For information, contact Charles at wooten49@charter.net.  Veterans are encouraged to attend our Connection Support groups at 356 Biltmore Avenue, Suite 298. See schedules above.

BASIC COMPUTER CLASS - One hour one-on-0ne computer classes for beginners interested in learning how to use a computer for email and web-searching will be offered, by appointment only, on Thursdays between 1:30 and 2:30 and 2:30 and 3:30 pm beginning May 13.
