NAMI Family-to-Family NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families, partners and friends of individuals with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. This program was designated as an evidence-based program by SAMHSA.
The 12-session NAMI Family-to-Family Education course has informed and empowered over 300,000 graduates nationwide. Up-to-date facts about mental illnesses, medications, communication skills, problem-solving, community services, advocacy and care for the caregiver. All materials are free. The instructors are trained volunteers.
