If your mental illness is a result of service in the military, you may be entitled to monthly compenstation. If you have not filed a claim yet, contact your nearest Veteran’s Service organization (DAV, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans, State Vet. Reps. etc. ) to discuss what you need to do. Many of the VSOs are located on the 4th floor of the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Although most of these VSOs are volunteer, the Disabled American Veterans service officer is there full time.
